8x12 SSAdmiral Karambir Singh assumed command of the Indian Navy on 31 May 19, as the 24th Chief of the Naval Staff. Admiral Karambir Singh is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. Commissioned into the Indian Navy in July 1980, he earned his wings as a helicopter pilot in 1981 and has flown extensively on the Chetak (Alouette) and Kamov helicopters. He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington; College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai and has served as Directing Staff in both these institutions. In his career spanning over 39 years, he has commanded Indian Coast Guard Ship Chandbibi, Missile Corvette INS Vijaydurg, as well as two Guided Missile Destroyers, INS Rana and INS Delhi. He has also served as the Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet. Ashore, he has served at Naval Headquarters as the Joint Director Naval Air Staff, and as Captain Air and Officer-in-Charge of the Naval Air Station at Mumbai. He has also served as member of the Aircrew Instrument Rating and Categorisation Board (AIRCATS).On promotion to flag rank, the Admiral was appointed as the Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command. His other important flag appointments include Chief of Staff of the Tri-Services Unified Command at Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra and Gujarat Naval Area (FOMAG). 

In the rank of Vice Admiral, he has been Director General Project Seabird, in-charge of infrastructure development of the Navy’s expansive and modern base at Karwar. At the Integrated Headquarters Ministry of Defence (Navy), the Admiral has been the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff and, subsequently, the Vice Chief of Naval Staff. He was the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam, prior taking over helm as the Chief of the Naval Staff on 31 May 19. 

The Admiral enjoys cycling, running, swimming and golf.

Lt Gen SK Shrivastava, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), AVSM an alumnus of National Defence Academy, was commissioned into the Sapper Fraternity in Dec 1980.  He has held various Command and Staff appointments, important amongst these are Staff Officer (Design) in Chief Engineer, Vishakhapatnam, Garrison Engineer CE DGNP, AMS in MS Branch,  Col Q (Ops) in HQ 16 Corps and Col Adm in CME Pune.  He has commanded an Engineer Regiment and an Engineer Brigade.  He has been an instructor in Staff College Zambia for a two-year duration.  The General Officer is a graduate from Defence Services Staff College and has attended all imp career courses like JC, SC, HC and NDC.  Lt Gen SK Shrivastava, PVSM, AVSM (Retd) is a post graduate in Docks and Harbour from IIT Powai and has M.Phil degrees from DAAV Indore and Madras University.  He has also served as Dy MS-12, IHQ of MoD (Army), New Delhi, Chief Engineer HQ Northern Command, ADGW (Army), DGCE in E-in-C’s Branch and also as Director General Border Roads, where he was awarded AVSM for his outstanding services.  He is now tenanting the appointment of E-in-C wef 01 Apr 2018.

Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain was commissioned in the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1982. He is an alumnus of Sainik School Rewa, National Defence Academy (Pune), the Defence Services Staff College (Wellington), the College of Naval Warfare (Mumbai) and the National Defence College (Pretoria, South Africa). The Admiral is a graduate of Jawaharlal Nehru University (Delhi) and has received his Masters in Defence and Strategic Studies from the Madras University.The Flag Officer is a Gunnery and Missile Specialist. During the earlier part of his career, he has held various operational and staff appointments, both afloat and ashore including Gunnery Officer of Destroyers INS Ranvijay and INS Ranvir.He has commanded Indian Naval Ships Nirghat (Missile Boat), Khukri (Missile Corvette), Rajput (Destroyer) and the indigenous Missile Guided Destroyer, Mysore. He also had the privilege of being the commissioning Executive Officer of INS Brahmaputra and the Fleet Operations Officer of the Eastern Fleet at Visakhapatnam.His appointments ashore include Director Naval Intelligence (Protocol), Director Foreign Liaison and Principal Director  Staff Requirement at Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy), New Delhi. He was appointed as the first Flag Officer Commanding Karnataka Naval Area, Karwar on promotion to the Flag Rank on 03 Oct 2011 as Rear Admiral. Thereafter, he commanded the prestigious Eastern Fleet and then served as the Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command.On promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral on 01 Apr 15, he tenanted the appointed of Controller Personnel Services (CPS) at IHQ MoD(N) and then Served as the Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam. The Flag Officer was holding the appointment of Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Policy Planning & Force Development), at HQIDS, New Delhi, Prior taking over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command on 01 Jun 2019.For his distinguished service, he was awarded VishishtSeva Medal in 2009 and AtiVishistSeva Medal in 2015.He is married to MrsDevina Jain and they have two grown up children Prateek and Meghna.

PHOTOLt Gen TSA Narayanan was commissioned into the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers in 1982 from Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. The General Officer took over the prestigious appointment of Dy Comdt & Chief Instructor of MCEME on 29 Aug 2017.His regimental assignments include comd of 622 EME Bn and Simulator Development Division. He was also instr cl ‘A’ at MCEME, Secunderabad and the General Officer has done a variety of staff appts like Maintainability Engineer (ME), AQMG (Ops & Maint), Dy CE ATC, Col GS (SD/WE), BGS (IS). His last assignment was ADG EME (A) in Army HQ wherein he dealt with AFV and Avn. His impressive academic credentials include a Master of Management Studies from Osmania University, Master of Philosophy from Punjab University. Amongst the all Arms Courses, he has done Technical Staff Officers Course (TSOC), Junior Command Course (JC),  Senior Command Course (SC), Higher Defence Management course (HDMC) and Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration (APPPA) courses getting 1st Div with Distinction grading. The General Officer has received the gold medal in the APPPA Course which had members of civil services also. He has been awarded GOC-in-C Western Command & Eastern Command Commendation Cards and COAS Commendation Card during notable career. The General Officer took over the prestigious appointment of Vice Commodore, EME Sailing Association & Vice President Laser Class Association of India last year and has contributed immensely for development of sailing infrastructure, promotion of Laser Class and Sailing as a whole in the country.

Maj Gen MS Pillai, SM (Retd)has won seven Ok dinghy national championship in a row and three Laser championship in a row. He is an ex sea-cadet (1966-1972) and has represented India in the Asian games and World Championship on several occasions. So far he has won “TEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS” and five other national titles.He has also won four international gold medals. As a matter of interest, he has won every singlehanded “ National Championship” in the OK Dinghy/Laser class from 1978 upto 1989. He has represented the country at various international championships since 1978 and has achieved outstanding results.In additional to active participation in national and international completion, Maj Gen MS Pillai, SM has also made a major contribution to the organization and conduct of various regattas/ competition by his mature and knowledge of all matters concerning sailing at an international level.

As a judge and technical delegate she has overseen innumerable competitions and events. 

Her academic background spans commerce and psychology with which she has contributed to the sound management of various sailing associations. 

Widely respected and popular amongst the sailing fraternity, Nilma brings passion and clarity to whatever she undertakes. 

With a natural flair for business, administration and people management hers is a steady hand on the tiller. 

She is an inspiration to women around the country.

Mr Ashok ThakkarMr Ashok Thakkar, started sailing in 1994 at the Royal Madras Yacht Club and was also on the committee of RMYC. He is a founder member of Tamil Nadu Sailing Association and has made it the most active and largest civilian sailing center in terms of number and active sailors, boats and events conducted. He along with his team from TNSA was actively involved in the setting up and building of the association which fields the largest contingent of youth sailors at events. He has also introduced schemes to enable children from economically weaker sections to take to this sport.

Mr. Atul Chandrakant Kulkarni  brings to the table about 27 years of professional experience across Chemical Industry and Transportation Infrastructure.Currently, as Advisor to the Indian Ports Association,Mr. Kulkarni has a special focus on opportunities for India to participate in development ,operate and maintain maritime infrastructure in other countries. Additionally, Mr Kulkarni is on the Board of various Companies in real estate,logistics and defence equipment manufacturing.He is also the National Convenor for Maritime Security Study Group of a think tank Forum for Integrated National Security'(FINS). Previously,Mr Kulkarni was CEO of Chowgule Ports & Infrastucture Pvt Ltd. and was instrumental in setting up INR 1000 Cr Cargo Terminal & Shipyard project,Senior Manager with global consulting major Deloitte and an Officer on Special Duty with the Ministry of Shipping. Mr. Kulkarni has been active in social activities in the North East region since his academic years.

Suheim SheikhSuheim Sheikh has been an avid sailor since 1977 and has sailed the nationals in the Cadet , OK Dinghy and Laser Classes with many National medals to his credit including a Laser National Bronze and Silver and Laser Masters Gold in 2009. He has represented India at the Laser Asia Pacific’s and at Doha.He has since moved into Coaching and has produced 68 medals and inducted many of his protégés into the Army and Navy Sailing Schools and a majority of the top under 16 Optimist sailors of India are his students . He is the Founder President of the Telangana Sailing Association and The Yacht Club of Hyderabad and the moving force begins the Monsoon Regatta and the Telangana State Regatta .The Yacht Club of Hyderabad under his watch has grown from 5 boats to 140 in a short span.

Capt Jitendra Dixit  is alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy, Mandovi (Goa). He has specialised in Navigation and Direction and has held various sea and staff appointments. His sea appointments include tenures on guided missile frigates Godavari, Ganga, Gomati, Direction Team on Aircraft Carrier, Virat and Squadron Navigator in 22nd  Missile Vessel SquadronHis important staff appointments include  Instructor at ND School,Kochi, HQSNC/Command Plans and Joint Director at Directorate of  Naval Operations. He has been appointed as the Honorary Joint Secretary General of the Federation since July 2018. He is also a keen golfer.
