Election Of Office Bearers

The YAI Council is the final decision making body of YAI and comprises of the YAI President, the Vice-President, the Treasurer; the Chairman Sailing & Club Development Committee; the Chairman Youth Classes Committee; the Chairman National (Asian Games & Olympic) Classes Committee; the Chairman Offshore & Motor Boating Committee; the Chairman National Classes Committee; the Chairman Sailing Performance Development Committee; the Chairman Events Committee; the Chairman Fund Raising & Publicity Committee; Chairperson Women’s Sailing Committee. A prominent yachtsperson is co - opted to the Council and is also a member but does not have a vote.  The 12 Council members are elected by the “Member Clubs” as set out in YAI Constitution and may be nominated by any of the member clubs.

The elections to the YAI Council will be conducted as laid down in the YAI Constitution. The election process will be overseen by a neutral returning officer to be appointed by the YAI Council. All Member Clubs eligible to vote are required to forward the name of the official who will be the authorised signatory to vote on its behalf  to the YAI Sectt latest by 30 April 2013.

The nomination period for various posts will commence on 01 May 2013 and shall end on 30 May 2013. Scrutiny of nominations by the returning officer will be on 05 Jun 2013 and the list of valid nomination forms received by due date shall be promulgated on 06 Jun 2013. Further details will be promulgated later.

We are all involved in the administration of sailing in order to make a difference to the sport about which we are all passionate. The YAI Council has a significant role to play in leading the future of sailing. Serving on the YAI Council is a rewarding experience and gives individuals a wonderful opportunity to share their expertise and vision for the sport with colleagues from all over the world.
